Museums and Art Galleries - Old City of Havana Regions of Cuba - Travel Guide This is the most important and largest institution of its kind in the country, featuring exhibits that showcase the flora and fauna of Cuba and other parts of the world; the collection includes a rich collection of shells, insects and minerals, a general anthropology room and a fascinating Cuban-Indian archaeology room depicting the daily life of our Indians. The latter contains a life-sized reproduction of the cave at Punta del Este, Isle of Youth, declared a National Monument for its unique wall paintings. The museum also offers a planetarium and the "Hall of the Cosmos." The National Museum does considerable educational and scientific outreach work among the general public, as well as within the country's cultural and scientific institutions. It is housed in one of the wings of the former National Capitol Building, which it shares with the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and the Scientific and Technical Library. Collections:
